Schedule

There are currently three offerings: Sunday Service, Weekday Morning Sits, and, Book Club. We have a new zoom number, email zen@alaska-zen.org to get connected.

  1. Sunday Service
    In-person at 711 Barrow Street with masking and proof of vaccination and hosted on zoom:
    8:30-8:55 zazen (seated meditation)
    8:55-9:00 kinhin (walking meditation)
    9:00-9:25 zazen
    9:25-9:30 kinhin
    9:30-9:55 zazen followed by short chanting
    10:00 dharma talk by Genmyo
    A chance to share thoughts or reflections with the group (optional) will follow the talk.
  2. Weekday Morning Sits
    These are offered on Zoom Monday-Thursday 6:30 am – 7:30 am. The meditation schedule will be:
    6:30-6:55 am sitting
    6:55-7:00 am walking
    7:00-7:25 am sitting
    For both the Sunday and Morning sits, one can join the online meeting room before the first sit, or during the walking time(s), just as in our in-person zendo. People may sit the first period, second period, third period and/or join us for the talk.
  3. Book Club
    Anchorage Zen Community is also hosting a book club on the second Thursday of each month at 5:30 via Zoom.
    Our current book is How to Cook Your Life: From the Zen Kitchen to
    Enlightenment, by Kōshō Uchiyama. Please note 3 points that are meaningful to you or you have a question about to discuss at the meeting.
